WAYS OF THE FORCE
MUSH!

MUSH Basics

A MUSH is comprised of four main components: Characters, Rooms, Exits, and Objects

A Character is an alternate personality created by you to role play with much like an actor in a movie plays a character. Characters are uniquely named objects through which you can connect to the game via a client or telnet. These characters are often similar to a character you would play in a table top Role playing game. They can have descriptions, possessions, motivations and anything else you can picture a character being and having.

A Room is a place inside the game world. It can be a cantina, road, apartment, ship or any other physical space a character can enter into. These rooms have descriptions which shows how room appears, and describes just what kind of room it is.

Exits are links between rooms which allow Players and sometimes Things like droids, to move between Rooms. Exits typically appear at the bottom of your client window, informing Players the options of where they can go. For example, a Player may be standing on a street (a room) and see something like 'Cantina '. Typing: C would move the player into the Cantina (another Room).

Objects are things within a game. Objects can be droids, blasters, bags, bantha's, or almost any other imaginable item. Typically objects are used to enhance the role play experience much like props are used to enhance a live play. Some MUSH objects such as blasters have mushcoded commands associated with them to activate or use them.

This MUSH is a game centered around a Star Wars theme based on the popular Star Wars movies and books. The game administrators are the ones responsible for defining just how much of a movie or book is included within the game.

General MUSHing Commands

Listed below are some of the more common global MUSH commands and the explanations of what they do. Replace the words that are italicized with the appropriate information.
say or "
- The say command can be used to talk to someone in the same room. A shorter syntax to use is "message.
pose or :
- The pose command is used to show an action, for example: Boba sneaks around through the shadows, unseen by all.. A shorter syntax to use is :action.
page PlayerName=message
- The page command sends a message to anyone connected, and the message is considered out of character. Omitting the PlayerName will send the message to that last person you paged. Posing using ':' also works with this command. For example: p PlayerName=:waves, "Hi there" (A single P in place of page is a shorter version of page that works on most but not all MUSHes)
ooc message
- This allows you talk about out of character things to whoever is also in the room with you. It is useful for discussing things and letting others what you will be doing in character. Posing using ':' also works with this command.
@chan/on ChannelName
- This command lets you join a channel. A channel is a general out of character chat room you can talk on.
@chan/list
- This list all the available channels that you can join.
+ChannelName message
- Typing this in lets you communicate on one of the channels you've joined. Acts similarly to a "say" command. The channel name can be shortened, for example, typing +pub Hello sends a "Hello" message to the public channel. Posing using ':' also works on channels. For example: +pub :waves, "Hello" will send a message to the public channel that you waved and said Hello.
look object
- This lets you see a description of a person, room, or object inside the room you're currently in. You can just use look to view the room you're in, you don't need its name.
+finger PlayerName
